    Description

WWI Era Liston Amputation Knife Converted to Trench Knife
Haslam & Co. of Brooklyn New York
    6" Blade
    4" Handle
This amputation knife is made of the finest surgical steel available for its time.  It was the tool of choice for amputations during WWI and pre-WWI.  On the guard are stamped "12" and "18."  It is assumed that these numbers represent December of 1918 as this knife appears to be a custom made self-protection theater knife.  It has a bronze guard brazed to the nickel-plated grip.  The grip is stamped "Haslam & Co." A Liston Knife has also gained association with the infamous "Jack the Ripper" as his preferred knife of choice.
