M1917 Enfield Rifle Bayonet--Remington
Original WW1 US M1917 bayonet for use with M1917 Enfield rifle [also used with several trench shotguns as well--Winchester Model 1897/Model 12, etc.], as follows:
Bayonet: Steel construction with blued pommel, guard, and ricasso, dull grey parkerized-type finish blade with double fullers, and walnut grips with two vertical grooves and blued steel screws/washers. Well marked 1917 over REMINGTON in circle on one side of ricasso, eagle head proof over 24 and Ordnance bomb over US on the other. Some wear to blued finish on guard and a few small nicks to grips, otherwise undamaged. Blade is nice and clean with no pitting or other damage as well.
Scabbard: Second pattern type featuring OD green painted leather body, blued steel throat and tip, and brass belt hook at rear of throat. Faint inspector's mark E.J.B. stamped on rear of scabbard body. Body still retains approx. 60% original OD green finish with no dents, cracks or other damage, but has some sort of number or initials hand carved into upper front [see photos]. Throat and tip show average finish wear, but no rust, dents or other damage and approx. 50% original blued finish remains.
Overall a nice clean example of this bayonet for your US edged weapons collection or for display with your Remington M1917 rifle and is in fine condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
