Rock Island Arsenal 16" Bayonet No Serial Number Dated 1906 Unfinished Blade . This is one of the earliest of the 1905 bayonets As you can see it has a date, but no serial number. There was a test batch of bayonets by RIA and like this one they had no SN. This could be one of those original test bayonets. At this point in time there is no way.to tell. Bayonet is in great condition with a full 16' blade that looks to have had only factory sharping. Blade has no nicks and the point is still sharp. the grips look to be original with little wear and no damage and are well fitted. The grip screw has no damage which indicates the grips probably have not been removed.Doing so usually shows on the screw slot. The fine line corrugations from the manufacturing process are still visible. The blade has darkened a bit with age as would be expected. Blade could be polished out to it's original brightness if desired. i will leave that to the new owner to decide. Item will be carefully packaged, insured, and with a signature required.
