    Description

This is a very rare American or French folding knife/Navaja from WWI. It is 33cm (13”) in total length when fully opened with a robust 14.50cm (5.65”) blade. This massive knife has very thick, polished handles, with crossed cannons, and the letters M.O.R.S. These letters are an acronym for “Mobil Ordinance Repair Shop”. They repaired everything from machine guns to artillery pieces. The “303” may stand for Lee Enfield rifle (not certain) and the “A.L.H.“ carved into handle are possibly the initials of the original owner. Below the pivot point of the knife are crossed cannons and an inset French 5 centimes 1917 coin. On the opposite side is an inset 25 centimes coin. The razor sharp blade is held firmly in place by a locking mechanism. This knife may have been handmade or custom made by a small local French cutler. This extremely rare, one kind folding knife, is in excellent condition one small crack around one of the pins. This knife is a very interesting piece of WWI history.
