    "Bank of Fayetteville N.C., 14 Sept. 1850"
    , from the Bank's cashier, W. G. Broadfoot, to D. A. Davis, Cashier of the bank at Salisbury, NC.
    Mailed as a stampless folded letter with blue FAYETTEVILLE/N.C. cds postmark, and blue "PAID" & "5" handstamps.
    Great banking content, in which Broadfoot encloses a check on the Bank of New York for ,000, (equivalent to nearly 0,000 today) and asks Davis to deliver to a Mr. Boon, the same amount in
    gold
    , and says he can give Mr. Boon another ,000 in gold for the Fayetteville Bank "if you are disposed to part with more). He also advises that he sent a package of Bank Notes of the Salisbury branch  by Mr. Boon, to be exchanged for banknotes of the Fayetteville bank.
    The letter reads:
    "Dear Sir,
    I enclose my ck on Bank of New York for Twenty Thousand Dollars, for which please deliver to S. Boon Esq. a like amount in gold for this Bank - if you are disposed to part with more, you may let him have for us ,000 more & I will remit you upon advice. We sent a package
